Greek philosopher of the time of Solon, originally from Hina in Laconia. When the reaction to tyranny, which characterized the 4th century BC, led to Periander, tyrant of Corinth, being omitted from the list of the Seven Sages, he was replaced by Myson, as Plato testifies (Protagoras, 343 a). Myson's name is missing, however, from the official list of the Seven Sages established by the time of Demetrius of Falireus (with the Corpus of their sayings that he collected around 300 BC). An oracle of the Oracle of Delphi referred to the wisdom of Myson and quotes from it were saved by Diogenes Laertius.
