A contemporary of Socrates. She taught philosophy at the school of Attica. She was the daughter of Aristippus, the founder of the Cyrenaic School of philosophy. She taught mathematics, physics, and moral philosophy in Attica for several years and wrote forty books of various contents, two of which included treatises on mathematics. After her father's death, she succeeded him, after being elected to the management of the School.
